Controls? Electrical on off constant switch, variable speed switch? Or do you mean the foot pedal steering?
I have a MinnKota Maxxum 50lb fctm that was acting weird. Bought it second hand for $150 and it would only turn right and then spin freely. I took off the bottom cover on the foot control and found the steering cables had gotten off track. Still didn't work! Took head cover off the top of the trolling motor and find the plastic cable holder had broken. Fixed it works great. Good website is trollingmotorparts.com
