New 20 HP EFI Suzuki

I'm waiting on a new 542F War Eagle to be delivered to my dealer this week. I bought the 20HP EFI online to go on it. They had a $300.00 rebate. Bottom line Free shipping, no tax $2390.00 total

I was leaning toward the Tohatsu for price but when I saw the price of the Suzuki at only 97 lbs and EFI I had to go with that.

My question is, I know these motors are new, I think they came out with the EFI for the 20 HP in 2012. Does any one here have one ? Are there any issues I need to look out for ?
 
Hope it is better than mine. I have the 15 but the same motor but different program in the computer. Do a search for my post.
 
I've read a ton of great stuff about them and only a few bad things.

Tomme boy, sounds like you were the unlucky one to get a lemon. I've read many reviews on them and not one bad review. I guess I bought mine the same place you did. Great price, I'm filling mine with oil tomorrow and will start the breaking process. I'm taking it out for the first time next Friday. I'm post the results.

Was this for the DF20AS model?
● 15" SHORT SHAFT
● TILLER HANDLE

Yes it is the DF20AS model. I unboxed , filled with oil and started it today. Ran great so far, I just idled it for 20 minutes and rev it up a few times. I'm taking it out Friday on the new boat. We'll see how it does then.

I thought I would just keep it on the stand in the garage all of the time and just put it on the boat when I wanted to take it out, That ain't gonna work. 97 lbs was a lot lighter when I was in my 20's. Now that I'm in my 50's it feels more like 200lbs !!

I'll keep it on the boat and put it in the garage during winter.
 
Finally got the new boat in and took it out today. The motor ran great, it was cutting out a little at first but that stopped after a short time. The boat was porpoising a little. I assume that means i need to tilt the motor down a little, is that correct?
 
I have one on a G3 V16XT (big rowboat), it is power tilt and start.
I needed to put a 9.25x11x3 prop on it; to stop porpoising with just me in it, (230lbs). It would also hit the rev limiter with two people in it stock prop. I went with a 9.25x9x4 first, it had great grip but spun out at about 2500 rpm. then rev limit.
I use a Tiny Tack.
I just put 11hrs. on it, boat with just me or crew runs great now!
You should like the motor if you have no problems.
