Hey guys!!! Happy Memorial Day to everyone :)

Ok I'm still working on my 1232 build but i have some quesations for you. my brother works beside a marine sales place and service department. He was speaking with the mechanic about we needing a motor for the 1232. The mechanic first recommend an Evinrude 15hp he was working on for $550.00 which i think isn't bad price but wanted to ask ur guys thoughts on that??

Also he offered to let us buy his personal boat for $1,000.00 instead of what they were asking retail which was $2,500.00. Heres some pics of it.

It's a fiberglass 13'5" x 60" with 35 evinrude and trailer. Just wanna know if i should take it for that price or pass???

I appreciate the help guys. YOU ALL ROCK!! :)

Thanks for the input guys :) I'm still new to the whole boat ownership thing so I truly am relying on your advise and what would be worth the time. I appreciate the insight.

Yeah Logger Mike thats what I'm hoping for lol. i seen a few videos on youtube and what I've seen looks pretty nice :) I just figured with 2 guys with gear and batteries and such. gotta have enough power to fish lakes or the river.

anyways thanks again gentlemen. Look forward to finishing the 1232 and getn it posted for reviews :)

Mike

Decent deal if that's the type of boat you're looking for. If it's not all you want it to be, pass it up and don't look back. Even though he's cutting you a deal, you have to make sure it's exactly what you want when you're dropping a grand on it.

The motor and trailer are OK and probably worth the price he's asking

I'd junk the boat though, there is about a 99% chance the transom and stringers are rotted out and need to be replaced and most likely several places on the hull that will need to be completely redone because the fiberglass is waterlogged and bad or dry rotted. Personally I wouldn't touch any fiberglass boat over 15 years old, way too much trouble. If you think replacing a transom in an aluminum boat is a lot of work wait until you try replacing a rotted transom and rotted stringers in a fiberglass boat .....

I completely agree.

Unless an old fiberglass boat has spent the majority of it's life inside a garage and out of the weather, I wouldn't touch it. You can't see the stuff that may be rotted on them most of the time until the fiberglass starts cracking.
