Found this motor on craigs list. Seems like a good deal. I dont know the shaft length or if its an electric or manual start. Does anyone know much about these engines? I think its a long shaft, but Im worried it could be an extra long shaft (25"). I need it to be a short or long shaft. Gonna go see it run tomorrow. How can I tell about the shaft length? Here is the info I have from the ad:

9.9hp Nissan Outboard - $695.00
1992 Nissan 9.9
SN-NS9.9B2
Motor is in excellent condition!
Comes with gas tank

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Eyeballing it, I would say short shaft (15"). Definitely not an extra long shaft (25 inches). I don't even think Nissan made an extra long shaft motor.

I have a 2000 Nissan 25 hp that was bought used and it runs strong. A little hard to get parts down south.

Looks like a short shaft to me. Should be a great buy.

I run a 2000 Nissan 18 2stroke. I've run the crap out of it for the last 10 years and have not treated it well. It runs great, havent had any problems except water in the fuel, which is not the motors fault.

Just went and bought the motor. Everything checked out fine. Turned out to be a short shaft manual start. Fired right up. Its in great condition for a 1992 model. The guy wouldnt take anything less than $695. Still a good deal though. Nothing runs like an old nissan. This is my third nissan. I'm planning on souping this one up if I can. I have a 1996 9.9 nissan on my boat now. It runs great, but I couldnt turn down a good deal. These things are worth $1200-1500 in the southeast, and theyre getting hard to come by. Thanks again for all your help.
