I looked a Semi-V today and was disturbed by the fact that both seats are cracked.
I at first thought my friend who is good at welding aluminum (or anything else) could fix it but then I remembered that the seats are filled with foam for flotation.

Any idea on how to fix this without taking the seats out and putting them back in (because I am not going to go to that much trouble)?

Rivited plate across the damaged side of the seat is my only thought. But what would cause that? Rough handeling? Too much weight on the seat? Kids jumping on the seat while the boat is trailered? Motor vibration? It's a cunumbrum, I tell you :)

That was one idea I had. It will have to be both sides of both seats though.

Given the character of the "gentleman" who is offering the boat for sale, I am going to guess that the boat may have been over powered and probably very over loaded. He bragged that his other boat which is rated at 50 HP has a 90 HP on it and it really is fast.

Hmmmmm???

I second the opinion on riveting a 1/8" aluminum plate across the broken area. That's about the best fix you can hope for, unless you're prepared to remove the seat, take the foam out, have it welded, put the foam back in and then re-install the seat.
