Paint Preping ?

Sorry Im somewhat new to this and will post pics later. I am in the process of stripping the paint of my Duracraft boat. I am going to be using Steelflex super slick 2000 for the bottom and will be using a different paint else for the side. For the bottom, do I need to prime before using the steel flex? If so, I was looking at Pettit underwater bare metal primer. Is that an over kill or do I need to use something diff?
