Hi guys,
I have a 68 i believe evinrude 18hp (18802a) on the motor. Motor starts and runs on two cylinders and intermittently just drops off to 1,like herc and jerk then it runs good for 30 secs and same thing till eventually just one cylinder with short outbursts of power. I checked spark and have spark but i think wires are corroded some. Checked points and theyre clean. Any ideas what to look for even checked fuel pump and no problem there. Would appreciate any help possible thanks ahead of time guys .

You might check the coils which may be cracked. They are under the flywheel and that has to be removed. If one is bad it should be cracked on the plastic insulation.

Pulled coils out yesterday repaired broken eyelet that screws to points armature i believe. No cracks in coils i could see but may replace just to make sure.

I bought 1 new coil and the tune up kit points and condensers gonna install tomorrow when i get the parts in mail....i had spark just looks weak compared to everyone saying should jump minimum 1/4".
