Shortest 12v battery

I just bough a new Jon boat and the two 12v batteries I have are 10". They are too tall to fit where I want. Are there any shorter- maybe 8" or less??

Are you measuring correctly? I'm pretty sure my group 29s are only 9 inches tall... I could be wrong.. I'll measure in the morning..

You might can check in to the optima batteries... I know nothing about them but I seem to tender reading that tgey can be installed on their side(laying down)...

Yes the glass mat batteries like the optima can be laid down.
