The Feather is gone. Nice fella from Destin came by this weekend and took it home. It will be missed. I had plans to get into something larger but they have been placed on hold due to unforeseen circumstances.

So I went out and purchased an old 84' Fiberglass skiff that has a bad floor for it's motor and trailer. It came with 44lb trolling motor and a nice depth finder too. Then went by local Academy and picked up my First new boat ever to get me though the season.

Boat : 2012 Alumacraft 1436 Flat $700
Motor: 2003 Mercury 4 Stroke 15hp $1k
Trailer: Steel, needs help. $100

Took it out for the first time last night. With 500lbs in the boat it did 23mph and that was without adjusting the tilt. With 200lbs in the boat I couldn't get it over 25mph without the wind blowing it sideways or it porpoising like crazy..Conditions weren't ideal. Thinking I can get another 3-5 mph easily with it tilted properly and just a bit of weight on the bow.

Mods:
Repair and paint the trailer
Service the motor, Oil, Plugs, Impeller, etc..
Install rod holders, cleats, lights, Fish finder, and ??????

Six with a new boat......are you feeling ok. Are you going to modify it?
I'm feeling better. Having the Feather so long I was starting to become lethargic, but it was a really nice setup for around here. Not having the DeepV will be sorely missed when I go into the bay. It is going to be modded for sure. Need to attack the necessities first though... The trailer will go to the sand blaster sometime in the next week or two. Service the motor. Get the lights going so I can resume my night fishing. Then probably a deck, trolling motor mount, a flux capacitor, and a dish washer. Ohh and a cup holder to boot! COLD BEER. (Never operate a boat while under influence.)

very nice.

Thanks Bugpac. I'm afraid she won't have her new shine left when it trades hands. A little wear will add some character.

My god man, you change boats more often then I change my shorts :LOL2:

Anyways I agree a boat is no boat until it has a flux capacitor installed and yes of coarse a cup holder

Good lookin boat, too bad it doesn't pick up HBO

It does however unscramble that one channel though..

Took the boat out last night into the bay and it did great. Unfortunately I hit a crab trap.. Didn't do any damage to the motor thankfully. I've got some family intown right now but once they leave I'll start the mods. Called my local Merc dealer and ordered an impeller, gasket, spark plugs, and oil/fuel filters. Someone is on the way out now to look at the Fiberglass boat.. Hopefully they will take it home so I can get some more mod money. The trailer will go to be blasted next week. Any ideas on a good coating?

Weekend, Left it in the water for 3x days. Went up the creek into the shallows. Fish: Flounder, Redfish, Spec Trout. Fish count, 5.

Since my boat has some warranty work that needs to be done by alumacraft and not being sure how long it will be around I've decided to mod my cooler. ha.

Cooler has rod holders, bow light, and Spot light mounted atop. Battery and tackle inside. There is enough room to keep some bait as well in small Styrofoam cooler too. I built a wood shelf that will keep the cooler upright and flush against the bow seat. It's held by the weight and a rib so no screws or glue. Works out nice since I've already made two offers on others boats. Sad b/c I'll lose at least $150 on this hull. Motor is doing great though! Getting about 25mph with a fishing buddy.

Thats a cool idea and as often as you change boats not a bad idea :LOL2:

It just being a new boat I'm having a reeeaallllllllllyyy hard time drilling holes into it! I have to take it to a local dealer to have some work done on it in a couple days and this weekend I'll find out if I have another hull... Not telling just yet what it could be, Hint. Its 52" wide

Hey sixes, where did you get that rod holder and how did you mount it to the cooler? Thats pretty sweet!

Bought it from Academy sports, was orig $30 but was half off. Seems they are running the special on their website too.. Best thing about it is it has a lever that will secure the rods inplace and a hole that you can put a padlock through too.. Not too shabby. It is secured by the stainless screws included. When I'm done using the cooler as a mounting post for all these goodies I'll just fill the holes with silicon and be back in business.

Thats what I thought. I found them online last night and I just ordered a pair. They look pretty sweet. I especially like the the locking feature. I suppose if somebody wants my rods bad enough, they will just rip the whole thing out of my boat. At least they'll have to work a litlle bit for them. Thanks again for the registration numbers for my boat. I still haven't got em on yet, but as soon as I do, I will post a pic on the sponsors page.

Another neat feature is inside that sliding tab is a metal bar.. Not thick, but I'm thinking if your screws don't give way, your rod would so there is a chance you could keep your reel if there was a theft. I'm happy with the investment and would have bought two but there was only one left on the shelf.

Glad you are happy with your #'s. That sponsor page is gone now, but make sure you get them on there before marine police catches up with ya. Their boats are expensive to maintain #-o

Still around. Anymore updates on this 1436? Will be starting a similar one soon hopefully.
