These are some images from Mazinaw Lake right below the cliffs. I don't usually use the fish identification feature but I was playing around with it that day.

First, here is what the cliffs look like from above the water:

Now the sonar images:

I'm pretty sure the fish that are marked are all Lake Trout. I didn't fish there as I wasn't equipped for vertical jigging, plus there is a lot of boat traffic with people looking at ancient native pictographs on the rocks.

Cool looking DI picture of those cliffs. :D

Comparing the Fish Id to the DI though, not sure if that is a whole column of fish. The DI looks like you are traveling along a peak, which tapers quickly on both sides. The wider 2D cone might be picking up fish along the edges, or the Fish ID is creating "ghost" fish. Given the amount of Fish Id symbols, I'd turn it off to get a better 2D view. Would also toggle between the two switchfire modes if that revealed any additional detail.

Lakers in the water I travel, usually settle out at a few different depths. Never seen a stack that goes nearly from the bottom to the top. It doesn't have those type of cliffs either, though.

Don't you love those units! I sure love mine. That side imaging is the bomb too! I only wish I was better at reading it. That will come with time and lots and lots of practice though.

You bet! I don't know how I lived without it. It has opened up a whole new world for me. However, I am still not using it to maximum potential.

Nor am I. I actually just moved my SI unit to the trolling motor last Saturday. (Had it in the back and a DI unit in the front). The SI wasn't getting used in the back as I fish from the front deck. Used it for the first real time fishing yesterday. Was getting a bit of interference from the TM, but didn't realize that's what I was getting until just a little while ago when I was looking up stuff on the HB side. I'm hopeful that once I get dialed in with this in the front, my world of fishing will change drastically, and that will be awesome!
