I would like suggestions on what to do I would like to keep it light sense I will be fishing with 3 people most of the time

Take it from my trial and error, spend the extra money and use all aluminum, 1/8" gauge is what I use and I'm 300 lbs. It holds up no problem, plus you don't have to deal with the wood treatment and it will never go rotten. Buy a decent rivet gun and go to town. Check out my project and you might get some ideas.

I would also use aluminum then leave off the carpet and put down raptor liner. Or herculiner. Easy to washup too.
