Sweet 10' mod

I've heard a lot of people with discouraging words for potential mods to 10' boats. I'm glad I didn't listen to them before I started this project. I could not be happier with this boat. It's plenty stable and if you have two guys with good sea legs there is no problem standing up. This boat is more stable than the canoe it replaced and much more luxurious. To all people who are hung up on being exactly up to specs on weight limits, this is not a project for you. My mods added probably 50 lbs to the boat and we fish with two guys, gear and a deep cycle battery. I'm sure we're probably 100lbs over the weight 'limit' but we have no stability problems. We can both stand up, turn the seats and fish off the side, or anything we want to do. This boat is perfect for ponds up to 50 acres or so.

Looks decent. I like the angled brackets instead of the benches for support. Do you get any flexing in the sides with them?

I get very little flexing on the sides. The upper attachments of the brackets are sandwiched between the folded layers of aluminum which I think provides a little more rigidity because of the folds in the aluminum. Originally I was worried that I would have to add more support brackets, but I found that not to be the case.

I think you did a well thought out mod you kept it simple and clean..very well done. It is reminiscent of the pelican 2 man bass boat. I think the concern for modding smaller boats is going over the top with too many add ons like double batteries, massive storage lockers, mini bars, etc. You have kept your mod true to the size of boat. Nice work!

Nice job! I too chose to mod a 10'er and enjoy seeing what others do their 10'ers as well!
