Hey guys,

I just picked up a 89 tracker 16 boat. Now I have a few questions. Im wanting to make this boat an open hull boat not with all the decking and everything. Im wanting a swamp boat for the delta. Im trying not to make the boat a side console and do tiller handle since thats what I perfer.

The only thing I do need is a seat for the back which im assuming I need a bench for that. I need a deck for the front so my dog and trolling motor can go on that and then a live well on the side of the boat with a box on the other side.

I was wondering if anyone has a boat like this? Id love to see pictures since i havent really seen anything I really perfer. I like the designs of the gator trax boats though.

Also what motor are people running on the 16 trackers? I know bass pro has them with 25 hp but ive heard that its under powered. Not sure if all the decking not being on the boat will make it go quicker with the 25 hp. Let me know what yall think. Make this the ultimate swamp boat.

Thanks

Will

Brother, If you do all your mods in aluminum to keep the weight down I don't think you'll have any problem pushing that boat with a 25. With this boat stripped down and support between the gunnels removed, I would check to make sure you're not going to get too much flex in the sides of the boat. The benches running across the middle of open boats are use as structural support. You can anchor to your live well and box if they are well secured to the stringers/deck. Good luck. I like a walk around boat too.

I was thinking about the benches and it being good weight. I was wondering what yall think to do about that. I want it to be an open hull. And The trackers do have decks on the front and back. Im going to put a deck up front so I can duck hunt and use a trolling motor to fish. And I want to put a bench in the back so I can mount a seat.

So I was wondering what yall think I should do to make it strong? I plan on using aluminum flooring with foam in the bottom.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Will
