I've got a 12volt minnkota 30lb thrust trolling motor to supplement my 10horse johnson. I only want to spend maybe a hundred bucks for the battery and charger. What exactly should I ask for? I heard i didnt need a cranking battery will the guy at the store know what i'm talking about. If you could give me a link to look at one that be much appreciated thanks.

For trolling motors you want a deep cycle. Size depends how long you want it to last before charging. How long do you go fishing for? Some of the other members might be able to tell you how long a certain size lasts on a 30lb thrust.

There's a few factors that can affect the size battery you need or if you'll need multiple batteries. Wind, current, size of your trolling motor, size/weight of your boat, how many hours per day you fish, fishing style, etc. And how much you deplete your battery's charge and how often you go fishing will determine to some extent what battery charger you need. If you completely discharge your battery and you need it ready to go first thing the next morning, you're going to need a charger that can do that vs a smaller one that may take a little longer.

I would suggest getting a size 27 deep cycle that will run you around 80 bucks and get a automatic charger that has at least 10 amps
dont waste your money on a battery tender
