Took new boat out few times, was lost without front GPS/Sonar. Wanted way to install it up front, keep cords down to minimum, not drill any extra holes in boat & have it removable so custom trap would fit. So I build a mount on the trilling motor & get power from inside the trolling motor. This way also I can use trolling motor on an other boat & just have to plug in trolling motor power.
Here's picture of set up so far.

I like the idea and set-up. Did you wire into the extisting trolloing motor wiring or run side by side? Would it be possible to show how you wired it. I was trying to figure out the same and your set up looks like the ticket. I remove my trolling motor for duck season.

Very nice. I would have thought that it would cause interference on your finder.

I agree, I would think it would cause interference. Have you tried it on the water yet?

I have not tried it yet, but plans are I have a 24v plug (4pin) on boat & a 12v trolling motor. So I can get seperate feeds from battery using different wires running to back. I think this would eliminate interferance. However, project is delayed for bit. I just sold my 14' boat & included gps/finder unit. So I will have to get another. Going to save up for one that one can download lake contour maps into.
So to be continued at later date. :D :D

id bet you will get interference, you dont want any other wires or any thing electrical near your transducer wire, but i hope it works for you! its a great idea. p.s. add some silicone spray to that shaft, she looks a little dry...it will make deploying and stowing a lot smoother and easier.

Well I sold my old boat & included My gps/depth finder in deal. Also traded guy this 36# motor for a 48# one to get my by this fall. So did not get chance to try it out. I am hoping to have one around 60#+, 24v, with transducer built in by next spring. also plan getting new hummingbird system where I can network multiple displays together.
