I'm taking my boat out onto the Raritan river this weekend and I'm curious about how bad it would be for my 80# terrova as it's brackish water and the terrova is designed for fresh water. I'm not sure if it would be very detrimental to the motor or only minor as it's not as salty as sea water.

thoughts, suggestions?

I've used a regular powerdrive in salt water, handful of times a year.
I rinse it with a garden hose when home.
I'm not telling you it's okay,just I havn't had any problems.

hi Leelatt, if it were me I would wash it off once I was out , or at home first thing, just like a rod and reel.
I hope this helps in some small way

thanks, I'll be sure to hose it down afterwards.

ive used a regular minn kota in saltwater alot... it wont hurt it too bad... brackish water one time, itlll be fine...hose it off after...

i have 1 that has been in saltwater regularly for years and the only thing is paint worn off in a few parts...still works fine...

i guess if it were to get completely submersed in saltwater it might be a different story..
