In the process of re wiring my boat I have a decision point regarding whether to use a waterproof switch panel or to just use toggle switches. As I already have a fuse panel with attached ground bus bar, I am inclined to just use toggles. The most suitable space is right of my steering wheel but I only have a 4x6 inch square, which also lends to the use of toggles.

Does anyone have a recommendation on a type of waterproof toggle that is cheap and reasonably durable??

Thanks in advance.

i had the same dillema.i can tell you this, there is no such thing as a cheap waterproof toggle switch thats also durable.you can get all sorts of toggles and rockers but a good one is a long way from cheap.the switch plate was the way i went.i got a cheap one and it lasted 2 years.my new one was more money but waay better quality, now only time will tell.

I just installed a blue sea systems 4 switch panel on my boat. Its compact and seems well made but only time will tell think I paid like $50 for it.

You could put the switches behind a marine stereo cover....just an idea. also if you use dpdt's you could eliminate a couple switches in the process. For example, one throw could control the automatic side of the bildge while the other controls the manual side of the bilge.

I did the otterbox on mine last night. Seems like it will work pretty good. Just siliconed it to the rear bench when mounting with screws to keep water out. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1395941501.172694.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1395941514.956643.jpg

I like the otter box idea. I saw a case just like that at Walmart last week it wasn't otter box brand but the same box and was only about $4

Hey guys thanks so much for all of your input on this wiring thing! I got her up and running with a 80 percent solution -- hit the water on Sunday for a trial run. Everything is pretty much good to go. I am amazed at how much there is to be learned by folks with different knowledge, and thankful for your advice. The "B Billet" is that much stronger for it...
