The U-2 looks good

you can do pounds and ounces or lbs to the hundreth. The display also separates so you can do it "remote" for a large object like say a plastic kitchen basin to put fish in, just put that on and tare it and weigh.

the only thing I don't like about it is the size of the platform... it's roughly an 8" x 6"... I think that's too small.

ok.. I think this is going to be my best option...

Do you think this would be my best bet?

Not really. True it has a 150 pound capacity x 0.05 pound resolution, but that means it will read the same weight for 4.50, 4.51 and 4.52 pounds. It will go from 4.50 to 4.55 without reading 4.51, 4.52, 4.53 or 4.54. You are looking for 0.01 pound resolution.

Or actually you want to weigh in pounds and ounces with fractional ounce resolution, not pounds and fractions of a pound. And sorry, I don't know where to get what you want as cheap as you want it.

This one is fractional pounds as well but might suit you

crap.. I didn't know it wouldn't read out to something like 4.51... I though it just meant that it was accurate at .05

either way, I ended up getting the HD 150 for a really good price from one of my clients I underwrite insurance for... kind of got them to "donate" it to me

a bit late but.... I use an equalizer scale it goes down to 100ths and has worked well for me. I check it each morning before the event. I use Folding table to set the scales on I picked up A laundry room plastic sink and a small basket to weigh the fish in a milk crate will work wellto place on top of the scale

Do you have a link to the scales you use?

The HD150 I got isn't what I was looking for after all... Like flounder mentioned, it only reads 5.05, 5.10, 5.15 etc...

Would one that weighs out to 0.005 work, and just use it for weigh in to the 100th ?

russ, i have the 40lb scale. these are pricey but very good.
being an ABA director i just had to put down a $200 deposit on my credit card

https://www.itinscales.com/easyweigh_px_digital_scale.htm
these are another good scale you can order a remote display and printer
they seem like a fair price

Well I got the scales in last Friday and finally checked them out last night... wow is all I have to say. I wanted to see how low it would read, and I put a sheet of paper on it to see if it would recognize it - weighed in at 0.01 lbs.

This should do the trick! Thanks for all the input!

just remember these scales are touchy.. i carry mine in a heavy duty padded case and maintain the warranty
i am going on 6 years with mine if it goes bad i can cal the company and they fedex me a replacement and I send mine back snail mail
now you can work on your basket I would have a piece of Plexiglas cut to fit the basket add a handle to help keep the fish from bouncing. I also use the same bag to weigh the fish in and wrap them tight to keep the time out of water to a minimum

good luck with it

You put them in a bag?

I thought we would put the fish in the basket, then dump the basket back in the water... I'm going to have this set up on the water at the dock (ramp)

The area that I hold the weigh in at is 100 plus yards from the water so I have a tub that I measure the fish in
then I place the big fish in the bag check it's weight then add the rest weigh them and get pictures for my web site
place them bag in the bag and have the angler take them back to the river. I never dump the water out of the bag in the tub and use one bag that I cut holes in for drainage to weigh the fish
I think that the bag helps keep the fish still on the scale and keeps the slim coat on them no rough edges
I always wet the bag down first.
