My 160W Lowe has its fishing seat base too far forward for my long legs. I am considering adding an additional seat base further back. My only concern is the under-deck support.

I was able to see underneath the forward seat base by using a mirror and looking back from the anchor locker. I found that ....under the aluminum decking... there is a good 3/4 inch or more plywood sub-base. I assume that the same plywood runs under the entire front deck.

So, the present front base is on a span that is 14 inches wide. My new base will be on a span that is half of that...7 inches. It fits the seat base perfectly. Do any of you see any problems in putting the new seat base on a 7 inch span?

Remember, I am no lightweight...now topping the scales at 255 or so.

If I do get some sagging..I COULD add support on either side of the new base, but the support would be inside of the lockers. I don't know what supports the base of the lockers. Thanks for any help.

Merry Christmas.... Rich
