There are four of them on my (new to me) Gregor. Two on the transom facing out, two near the bow on the inside of the boat.

I've never even seen one before.

But, that slot cut in the tab looks ideal to drop a welded ring into it. Tie/chain the welded ring onto the lifting cable or rope. Slip the ring into the slot. it isn't coming out easily.
