I ran a similar thread years ago. Lots of new members, thought I try it again.
Mine was a 14' Crestliner with a 20hp. pull start Mercury 2 stroke.
Had a 30 lb. Minn Kota trolling motor. Got it in 1995, kept it for 2 years and sold it to buy the second of a total of 5 boats I've owned.

That guy down below is a much younger gillhunter.;)

A 14’ Fishmaster purchased from Walmart in the early 90’s. Initially run with a ‘63 10hp Sportwin. Later an 18hp Nissan. Trailer was a galv shore lander purchased online and had to assembled. Used for many years. Son caught his first Susky smallmouth in it. Outside of the Nissan, which was sold with my son’s first boat, still have the rest. Sorry, no pics on my phone.

Well, you usually remember your first! ;) :D
That was a 10' Jon boat, bought new back in 1963 for my birthday with my grass mowing money. Picked up a 1954, 5 hp, Sea King motor for it as well. Boat was 95 dollars, Motor was just gone thru by the dealer, new water pump and a tune up for 125 dollars. I was king of the river with that outfit !!

Your Ford Explorer, connected to your boat, reminds me of my father.....he had a '93 Explorer that he used to drive from CA to FL to purchase a '78 Drascombe Lugger sailboat. He was 65 at the time (back in 2008). I often think about this....I'm 61....would I venture to FL to purchase a boat? He really wanted that boat!
NOTE: He's currently 81 and is refurbishing a Crestliner 14 Sportsman. He's not much into forums anymore, or I'd have aboard our forum here!

With a name like Desoto, I was expecting some big tail fins comming off the back ! Unless your an old geezer like me, you might not get that unless you into old cars. Lol...

Just bought this yesterday. 1978 Grumman 4.4 Open, 1977 trailer, 2007 Mercury 9.9 4 stroke. Retiring in 4 weeks. Plan on restoring this boat as best I can. Looking forward to reading and looking at this site to see what others have done. Thanks! AT

First Tin Boat! IMG_2989.jpegBought for $500. Grumman 4.6-784 with running 35hp Evinrude. I rebuilt the steering and electronics panel. Was 3/4” plywood I replaced it with 3/4” black HDPE. New fuse & switch panel and Brand New OE Ignition Switch. Even found a Brand New Evinrude 35hp Model Match Service and Parts Manual. Going to restore the floor with 1/2” White HDPE Acrylic and carpet. Casting deck up front. ANY INFORMATION on Owners Manual or Literature Copied from Grumman, Marathon or Evinrude is Hugely Appreciated. I have found 0 literature on this vessel especially the model variances. Thank you! Glad to be here!

This is actually my second tin boat and also the second boat I have ever owned. I didn't have my first tin boat for very long and unfortunately don't have any pictures of it. It's a Alumarine 16 HD. It's manufactured in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan

First one was a 10' John that Dad got as a birthday present when I was a kid. We put a 3hp Merc knock off on it and ran it around for years. I'm currently working on the first one that I'll officially own (as time and funds allow). This one is a 16' MonArk that I'm putting a 15hp Johnson on. See my post history for pics and details.

First aluminum 14' Sea King 1960s boat and trailer that I purchased for 300 bucks. Totally refurbished the boat and trailer from top to bottom. It was a labor of love that took me all winter to do. But it was worth it to me because in the end it turned out super nice.
