    Extending bunks to support transom

Take a straight edge to the bottom of the boat...if it's not hooked under and concave in the area at the end of the supports and it's been on that trailer forever you're probably fine. If you've got a hook in your hull you definitely need them extended to prevent further damage.

40hp to 60hp; new ECU and intake restrictor removed

Assuming they use the same powerhead then for starters I'd make sure the fuel injector/ fuel regulator (if any) are the same, otherwise it's not just an ECU swap. If they are, or if the fuel rail is the same and the correct injector can be swapped in, then there will need to be something in...

Parting out an 88 mercury 60hp

Need this gone in the next 3 weeks. Parts free to anyone who wants to pick them up.

    How many HP

I think at that power factor the 25hp Yamaha F25 is what you're after. It's a 2cylinder 4stroke 25hp, biggest of their small form factor motors. If you're used to a 15hp 4 stroke you won't be missing the torque of a 2 stroke, so you should have no issues with it.

Parting out an 88 mercury 60hp

I've got an '88 Merc 60hp that's available for parts if anyone needs anything mechanical. Powerhead has 125psi compression on each cylinder but the reed valves are an issue and the whole thing needs to be torn down to reach them, hence me parting ways with it. I tossed the ignition system after...

Anyone ever make their own power trim????

Lenco makes a waterproof linear actuator to be used with trim tabs. You can get them for about $200 and with some finagling you could make it work for a small motor.

    Turducken

My aunt and uncle made one for a holiday - she got very mad at the way he cut it as the various meats separated...so you might want to look into that ahead of time to follow the right technique. It was tasty no mater how it looked.

88 Mercury Bogging down at full throttle

Yup. The rest of the story goes right along those lines...I wasn't going to gripe about it, but so much for that! I only bothered in the first place because prior to all this it idled nice and smooth, has 125psi on all 3 cylinders (+/-) and the lower unit shifts nice and smooth. There is no...

88 Mercury Bogging down at full throttle

Yeah, it was an electrical issue, though after three rounds of failing to ID the underlying culprit part I'd had enough of 1.5hr back & forth trips to the lake just to test the boat killing what little free time I have so I replaced everything (stator, trigger, switch box, coils, rectifier) in...

88 Mercury Bogging down at full throttle

Found a bad coil with the multi-meter last night. Tested the stator and the trigger, as well to cover my bases knowing I can't test the switch box and found both were within spec. One of the 3 coils appears to not be original, now a 2nd has died, and the motor doesn't have too many hours on it...

88 Mercury Bogging down at full throttle

It starts and idles fine, sometimes it'll run without an issue topping out around 40 miles an hour on my boat others it bogs down and won't go over 20. Even when it bogs down it runs smooth, it just doesn't have the power to push it any further. I don't have a tach on board to say the absolute...

    Home made Rod.

I had a bear of a time hunting down that same book at a reasonable price - it's still the bible for wrapping as far as I'm aware.

    First boat for family fishing

Looking at those pictures I'd caution you away from Force motors. Depending on the motor you could have an issue finding parts as the product line evolved over time as the company changed hands and ultimately was produced by Mercury before being shut down all together in the late 90's.

Does the outboard get in the way of sidescan?

Sorry - I use humminbirds, a similar amount of offset was enough for theirs...you could always make a riser from 1/4" 3x4 angled 6061 aluminum from www.onlinemetals.com. Should get you 6" of setback assembled correctly. All you'd need to work with it would be a drill to allow you to get hardware...

Does the outboard get in the way of sidescan?

Get a TH marine transom riser/jack plate...it's about $100 and it sets the motor back far enough that it shouldn't interfere with the transducer.

    Aluminum flooring

It all depends on what you do behind the aluminum sheet. The thinner you go the more framing you'll need. Your best bet will be to anchor the seat bases to the framing and not the decking skin. As for what gauge to use for a decking surface, most jon boats are only .063", so with the proper...

    carpet vs no carpet

Textured paint cleans up much more easily than carpet. Soap, water, drain, done. Carpet you need to scrub and you'll still get the stank of baked fish slime under your boat cover on sunny days. Paint doesn't snag hooks and get torn up. Carpet has no place in a fishing boat IMO.

    1985 Tracker III Restore/Conversion

I got my Dr. Frankenmotor on, restored this old 88 Merc 60hp using the cowling and starter from an older setup and a full rebuild of the carbs, fuel pump, impeller, pivot, steering tube and who knows what else. Adjusted the timing and idle settings in the backyard and set the max spark advance...
