    Extending trolling motor battery wire

I bought a ton of stuff from those guys when I wired my boat from scratch. Good, high quality stuff. You'll be fine with the wire you got from Amazon though. Just figured you could save some money ordering by the foot. And I'm able to use smaller wire with my setup compared to yours because when...

    Extending trolling motor battery wire

Other than the terminal ends, you don't need anything "Minn Kota Specific". And even the terminal ends can be found easily. I got ALL of my wire, terminal fittings, etc. from https://tinnedmarinewire.com/wire/ when I wired my boat. Zero issues with anything in the 6 years since I wired...

    Memeorial Day Weekend Smoke

Nice!! How'd everything turn out? I'm interested in hearing about how you do the bacon burnt ends. My 9# butt only took 15 hours to get to temp  Ran it at 160 overnight and then cranked it up to 180ish in the morning hoping it would finish sooner. So it goes though. Either way, it was...

    Rivet Nuts or Rivets

I secured my aluminum deck with closed end blind rivets. Easy enough to drill out if needed, and plenty strong. I used rivnuts for a few different applications (trolling motor mount, light bar mount) and have had a few that worked loose. Once they do that, they'll just spin and spin and are a...

    Memeorial Day Weekend Smoke

Just trimmed up a 9# butt last night and dry brined it this morning. Then it'll get rubbed (I like Meathead's Memphis Dust) and put on my UDS at around 260 this evening. I'm expecting it to take 10-12 hours to get to 197, which is the temp I like to pull my butts. Once the butt is done, it'll...

What primer to use for camo paint?

Yes, I used the harbor freight sprayer. Thinned the paint with about 15% paint thinner. I'm not familiar with the styx river se primer, but as long as it's self etching you should be fine.

I hit a rock and didn't like it.

That hurts!! If it makes you feel any better I've done worse and my setup is still running the river. At current count I've put 3 holes in the hull and completely destroyed 1 jet foot. Total "hits" number is many, many times the hole count.

    Upgrading OEM Kenwood Stereo

Does your current stereo have an AUX port? I have a Pyle marine setup in my boat and quickly realized I didn't want to have my phone tied to the AUX port with a cord. Picked up one of the Bluetooth receivers linked below and it works great. Use it in my truck as well since the stock radio also...

What primer to use for camo paint?

On my boat I used the Rust Oleum self-etching primer in the spray cans on the bare areas of my hull (hull was already OD green) as well as the entire bare floor, deck and hatches that I installed. Then I sprayed on Parker's Duck Boat paint in sand tan through a HVLP sprayer. I then stenciled...

Boat size for 1992 50/35 Johnson

I run a 1994 Johnson 50/35 on a Tracker 1648 ModV and get mid 20's down and low 20's up river turning 5400 rpm's with 2 guys, cooler, fishing gear 24V trolling motor, 8 gallons of gas and 2 group 27 batteries. Used to get upper 20's to 30 before I beat the crap out of my hull bottom.

    Impeller polishing

I've never had it done, but I've read from a few that have that there was no noticeable difference. I can't imagine it would last very long either, especially if you're running in anything sandy. If you're running an aluminum impeller, stepping up to a stainless will get you noticeably better...

Adding starter batter to already all electric setup

On my boat (Tracker 1648) I run a 24V, 74# Minn Kota Maxxum using 2 Everstart group 27 batteries. I also pull of each battery independently for 12V for stereo, bilge pump x 2, LED nav lights, LED interior lights, sonar, LED light bar, 12V plug x 2 and starter for my '94 Johnson 50/35 jet. Zero...

Best way to fill four 1/2 holes in aluminum transom

The BEST way would be to have them welded. But there are many other methods, like already mentioned, that would suffice.

    Front deck questions

I used 1"x1" aluminum angle and 1/8" sheet to frame out my extended front deck that then got custom hatches attached. It is very solid and sturdy. I used 1/8" sheet for my floor. The floor was attached directly to the cross braces on the bottom of the hull and to a piece or two of angle towards...

    Trailer Tire Covers

I have plenty of scrap wood to do what you all are suggesting. Should I also get my tires up off my asphalt driveway when the trailer is going to sit for extended periods? Either by parking them on a piece of plywood or jacking them up?

    Lowrance Trolling Motor

Although I can't justify something with I-pilot/spot lock on my current rig, I dream of the ability to hit a button and have the trolling motor hold me in current while I fish an eddy, seam, etc. on the river!! I hate throwing the anchor so much I haven't used it in years, other than when setup...

Looking to build aluminum deck on 2008 Legend Pro-sport

I don't remember exactly how much since it's been awhile since my build, but I think the closed end rivets were more expensive than regular open ended rivets. I can say that in my experience the closed end ones do seem stronger. I had to partially pull up my floor at one point, thus having to...

    Trailer Tire Covers

That would be simple enough to do. So what is the major contributor to dry rot? UV exposure? Lack of use? Constant contact with hot asphalt? Moisture?........

    Trailer Tire Covers

Any particular brand of tire covers you guys recommend for your boat trailer tires? I have 4.80-12 size tires, and that equals about 21" when mounted and inflated. Have a new set of tires to go on and want to keep these from dry rotting as quickly. My current set isn't terrible, but are showing...
