I rebunked mine last winter, I put them flat, plus put an extra one down the middle. I did it for more support, I put all my gear in the boat. But it worked out great for a walking plank when loading or unloading the boat.

I have a 12/36 with a nissan 9.8 hp 4-stroke. I moved my fuel tank all the way to the front and didn't have any problems, I even had to build up the transom for a long shaft. It did even out the weight in the boat, I could probably move my battery and TM up there too.

I take my in saltwater once in a while, just hose it off real good. I really worry more about my motor in saltwater than I do my boat.
