Headed down to Charleston SC for a week of family vacation, just wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a guide. Inshore, offshore, anything.

    Charger for an AGM Battery?

Been thinking about putting a trolling motor in my canoe, using a 12V 50Ah AGM Deep Cycle SLA Battery. I've got a Schumacher 1.5 amp trickle battery charger/maintainer that I was going to use, but the battery manufacturer's website says "Warning: Use only AGM Smart Chargers. Using a constant...

    Back-Up Light on Trailer

Just like it sounds, put a back-up light on the rear of the trailer. I have extra backup lights on my truck's roof rack, but they really only light up the boat, and not what's behind it. Used this light, with a 7-way connector and a junction box Because my Tahoe's trailer connector was...

Livewell Delete / Rod Holder Install

So, my livewell was unused, in the way, wouldn't drain, and needed to come out. I'd mounted a rod holder on the top of it, so I needed to install new holders. Livewell... Removed... Drain hole welded up... Installed rubber claw holders on the top section Installed golf club tubes with...

Best way to plug a livewell drain?

I'm going to remove the livewell from the boat. I don't ever use it, and it takes up too much floor space. The only real issue in removing it is dealing with the drain which runs thru the bottom of the hull. Instead of removing the drain, and being left with a hole in the hull, I thought I'd...

    Prop Nut Torque

I know this is a wild shot in the dark, but does anybody know the torque spec for a Suzuki DF60-A prop nut? Google resulted in everything from "finger-tight" to 120 ft lbs, and the Suzuki marine site was really helpful with their "call a dealer, don't call us" routine. Also, the instructions...

    Yet another Prop Question

My current prop does "ok" but it's kind of beat up, and probably needs to be replaced. Even before I abused it, it tended to bog down if I threw the throttle to it from dead stop, and I'd have to ease into it to get on plane, which usually happens when it gets to about 14 mph or so. Generally...

    Downrigger Mounts Installed

Just a couple of shots of the downrigger mounts I installed using Traxtech T-bolt Brackets and a track system. Had to cut out a gap in the boat's gunnel track to slide them in, but that was nbd. In the pics the tracks aren't sitting quite level, but I fixed that later with a piece of starboard...

    Boat Wiring Resources

I thought it might help to post these resources from Blue Sea Systems. They won't give you a wiring diagram for your boat, but they do have a lot of good info on circuit protection, wire size, fuse/breaker size/type, etc... anyway, here they are... 1. Circuit Protection (general info). 2...

How do I cap off a livewell pump outlet?

I never use my livewell as a livewell, I use it for storage. The lid isn't watertight, but it works for storing anchors and stuff that can get wet. I had a leak in the hose that feeds the livewell, and altho' I patched it, I'm not sure it's gonna keep holding. The section of hose that is...

Need help wiring up the light circuit on a Suzuki Tach

Need some help from someone with electrical skills! The tach is already wired up and working. Now I'd like to get the lighting circuit working so the tach lights up when I turn on the nav lights. I was thinking this would be as easy as jumping a lead from the nav light switch over to the tach...

Batteries in Parallel - Onboard Charger Question

I've moved my 2 TM batteries (Interstate 27's) to the bow, wired in parallel, both hooked up to a Dual Pro SS2 onboard charger (2 - 10 amp banks). I think I've read that a smaller (slower) amp-per-bank charge might be better for the batteries than the 10 amps-per-bank that I'm running now...

Relocate Batteries to the bow...need help

I'm thinking that moving my 2 batteries up front would help with weight distribution, since 2 batteries + 6 gal tank + outboard + my big butt = a stern low to the water. Here's how I'm wired up now: Cranking Battery (31): Suzuki 60hp 4-stroke direct to battery, plus a lead to a fuse panel for...

Can't Find 'PVC' for Guide-On Posts

The PVC on my guide-on posts is cracked in several places, and I'd like to replace it with the same type of PVC that's on there now...which is NOT schedule 40 PVC like you can get from Lowe's...it's a thinner diameter material. And, just to be even more picky, I'd like to use black...like these...

Help Please! Minn Kota Edge 40

My MK Edge 40 bow mount started making noise yesterday. When I pulled it out of the water to see what was up, I could spin the cylinder / housing between the prop and the skeg (or whatever it is) a little. If you turn it to just the right spot it works fine, but the slightest turn one way or...

Batteries in parallel? with switch? on board charger?

I've searched the forum, but haven't quite found the answer to my questions, or if I did I didn't know it...I'm not great at the electrical stuff... I currently run 2 separate, identical Interstate series 29 marine deep-cycle batteries: 1 for a 12V MK Edge 40 bow-mounted TM 1 for the cranking...

Breaker size for a MK Edge 40 TM?

I've searched here, and Googled, and I've seen lots of answers, but I can't seem to find THE answer... What size circuit breaker should I use for my MK Edge 40 bow mount? I'm not sure what gauge wire it has, I'm guessing 6 ga. I've seen that 60A, 50A, and 40A are all used, but which is the...
