    Dumb question...

Outboard jets recommend their small grease gun but many say it is pointless. If you use a regular grease gun and just don't pump the hell out of it you should be alright. This has been a topic that has came up before and most people use a regular grease gun and just take it easy with it. The...

    Dumb question...

Thank you sir. I talked to outboard jets directly and they said about the same thing. I will probably change the seals out later this month when I got more time and money.

    Dumb question...

Well some how some way I have notice a little water when I grease my jet. I know this cant be good but how immediate is this to where I need to change the bearing. Granted the bearing is not even a year old am has less then 50 hours on it. Can't figure out what happened to begin with as I always...

    Shaft length.... Am I doomed?

Do you have some pictures to show what exactly you are talking about? It is hard to see what you are taling about but if I am reading your post right then you have a long shaft prop and a short shaft Jet? Also you mention a tunnel is it a prop tunnel or a jet tunnel? Post some pictures and I...

New member and new project boat.

Man I was checking that same boat out. Looked like a hoss, but too big for my river. Supposed to keep that parks and wildlife auction a secret as it is getting harder and harder to get a good steal on that site now. Kidding... Either way that is a heavy rig and I would be looking into alot...

    Break In After A Rebuild

Guessing I caught this too late but here is some info anyways. If you have the lower unit and prop on the motor still you can do the first hour or so of break in at idle. When you have to actually turn the prop is when you will need to put in a tank or lake. The motor will need back pressure...

    Break In After A Rebuild

Here is what I copied off Chris Carson Marine's site. This is what I used for my break in. BREAK IN SCHEDULE Hrs. 1-2: Trolling speed-under 2,000 rpm. Vary speed. Hrs. 3-4: Under 4,000 rpm. Vary the speed (bring on a plane for a few minutes and off a plane.) Hrs. 5-6: 4,500 rpm. Vary the...

    Break In After A Rebuild

Yes sir. THere is a break in period to allow the seals to set. I followed the breakin that Chris Carson Marine has outlined on their website since that who did my rebuild. Basically just like a new engine and need to start out slow.

    Jet boat Project

Got to do a lot of the wiring under the console. It is still jumbled up but I haven't got to zip tie everything up yet. Tonight I hope to get the battery compartment ready and that wiring mess figured out and cleaned up.

    Jet boat Project

Well the outside painting is done. Well except for some touching up. Color scheme want what I had planned but looked to work the best. Painting a double rib boat with thick plastic stencils is a pain. All in all at least it is done. Now I am working on cleaning up the rat nest of wiring under...

    Jet boat Project

I got the second coat of paint down. There are pictures by they look the same as before so I thought it was pointless. Either way I hope to lay down the stencil work tomorrow. I will update when I do.

    Jet boat Project

Got the boat back. Stripped the stickers off sanded, cleaned, vinegared, and etching primered. Finally got a layer o paint down tonight and it was not an easy task. First the sprayer was clogged, then my compressor had a lot of moisture fixed both of them and then broke my sprayer. Either way...

    Jet boat Project

I can't argue yet as it isn't done so not sure what it has cost me or if it is done. If it is cheap enough I won't argue but otherwise I am disappointed

    Jet boat Project

Been a while since I have posted on my boat. Fished out of it till deer season and then parked it. Now that I am in the off season between deer season and right before fishing season I finally got my boat in the metal fab shop. The idea is they are going to install float boxes, beef up the...
