Hello I am new to tin boats and am planning on modifing/ upgrading a lowe 1436L with a 15hp johnson hp motor. The boat is about a 1985 and the motor is about a 1985. It also comes with a decent trailer. i have not bought the boat yet so I was wondering what you guys think a good price on it would be. If i were to buy it it would have two people in it and fishing/hunting gear, (depending on what i am doing). would this boat be big enough? I would primarly use it on a 1300 acre lake with a lot of bays, islands and structure. The boat has a upgraded anchor system, and underneath storage , two swivele seats, and a humminbird fish finder that sits on a carpeted little box, one switch for stern lights and one for bow lights. I have a 34 thrust minkota endura c2 trolling motor that I would use on it, would that be enough? would like some camo stencling ideas if I were to buy it, and any basic upgrades. how much do you think the boat is worth? thanks

Prices vary a lot by location and time of year. If you add your location to your profile, maybe someone in your area can give you a good idea of it's value in your specific area.

If I were selling that boat, I'd list it at $2,200 and hope to get somewhere around $1,800 for it.

If I were buying it to re-sell for profit, I'd want to get it for under $1000.

If I were buying it to keep and use, I'd be willing to spend $1,500.

So I guess a good market value is right around $1,500.

any little upgrade ideas you guys?, how about for stencling camo?, do you think I will be able to stand on that front deck with another person on the boat?

this is just my opinion...

i would not buy anything under 48 inches wide at the floor.

i found my old polar kraft at a garage sale for 100 bucks.

its a 1648 ....

keep looking..

If my intent was to use it for bass fishing, I would agree with this. But believe it or not, there are other types of fishing where the preferred position is sitting rather than standing, and where a narrow boat is much more preferable to a wide one for getting in to tight places.

ahhhh....ok.... but you could just sit closer to the side on a bigger boat .....:) :)

That would be the smallest that I would go for what you are describing. I have a 1436L with a 20 jet and a full front deck- and a high seat in the back. Its just fine to fish while standing in the front and back, but I'm usually in calm river water. I like the narrow body that I can paddle if needed and it cuts down on overall weight. I have used it for hunting with a buddy, and it works fine, just a little tight on space while hauling bows and tree stands. Would not pay any more than 2k for what you show, and make sure the trailer is not a lemon with bad axles or hubs.
