I have been reading posts on this site for the last couple of years. All of your rebuilds have helped me through the long hospital stays I have with my youngest son, while he battles Leukemia. Thanks for all the great builds.
I used a 3" cup brush to grind everything down. Then I used Steelflex to coat the entire outside. I found the new AlumaCraft stickers on EBay, which match the original stickers. I just need to get Ohio registration on it and put the 15 HP Johnson on it and we're set. I think I'll wait until next year to do the inside.
Steelflex Note- Make sure you have plenty of foam rollers +10, 4" or 6". (I used 6"). Work in small amounts I would suggest that you mix no more than 1 1/2 cups of each part. This stuff sets fairly fast, it will start to heat up when it does. Pour it on and push it around, but only pour a small strip it will drip and pool up and is tough to push around after awhile. Do NOT buy cheap brushes, the cheap ones I bought left strands everywhere. I ended up using my nice brushes in the heat of the moment. Finally, I used acetone before applying. Steelflex is fairly easy to work with, but take your time and try to keep bugs off of it. I used Goof Off to help get the adhesive off from the stickers, it works great. However the 3" cup brush does assist it.
Good luck with your builds. If you have questions please ask.
