1982 Grumman 4.6 Bass Boat - holes at Stern

Hello there,
I am trying to understand those two holes at the stern of my boat. what are they? and can water get in if they remain uncovered?

I have a 79 Grumman 4.4. The "B" hole is the Boss for the Drain Plug. Is "A" possibly the Intake for a Livewell?
