1983 Alumacraft Lunker 16ss Trolling motor help

I have a lowrance ghost from an old boat. Just inherited a 83 Alumacraft Lunker 16'ss. Hoping to bow mount lowrance to it. I have access underneath of the accessory deck Floor of accessory deck seems thin.. I have never mounted a ghost before. Any input, help, ideas or resources... Can it be done???

Also wondering about the bow nose plate with the lights making it unlevel. Lights coming off and I have red and green strip lights for side of boat.

Thin meaning flimsy? With the bulkhead, I would think the bow deck would be good but I'm not there. If flimsy, perhaps reinforce by bolting a piece of aluminum angler underneath across the middle.

I would use a spacer between the TM and deck so that it is even with the plate. Starboard, the less expensive option of cutting board, or just about any plastic would work. Cut/mill to the TM base profile. Make sure you have the specified overhang for the deployed TM. Mount so that the control head is not hanging outside the boat when in the stored position.

Here's how my TM is mounted on the front of my Lund. Not exactly the same configuration as yours, but perhaps might give you an idea how you can tackle the job.



The 3/4 inch ply attached to the gunwales is the basic platform, and underneath that ply is a storage area for the foot pedal and cabling needed up front.

I made a 3/4 ply mounting plate for the TM base because that standard TM "sliding base" mount did not provide sufficient clearance for my situation. That mounting plate supports the entire TM base. The ply mounting plate is attached to the deck with hex bolts into T-nuts. It provides convenient removal if needed.

Underneath the deck ply, a stout piece of steel angle is mounted side-to-side to provide rigidity for the ply deck. It's rock solid.
