i have a 1989 basstracker tournament 1800tf with a 110 hp evinrude. sometime everything works perfectly and othertimes I have no power to trim or start. the batteries are all fully charged and the outboard is charging the batteries.if you are cruising around the lake the volt gauge will drop from 14 to 10 and you will have no trim or start. when you put a voltmeter on the battery it say 12.6. I don't know where all the wires go or what volt they should all be at. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks for reading.
Neil

Use your voltmeter and start tracing wires - start at the tilt / trim switch - the see if the switch is working properly (visually inspect for corrosion)

Check all your grounds

Sounds like you have a faulty ground or a bad switch somewhere in the circuit.

Additionally, check you battery terminals and ground wire (look not only where the wire meet the battery but at the other end of each wire where it meet the switch or starter, etc. - look for corrosion, loose fit, etc.

Thanks I have been trying that all day.
I get 12 corps everywhere except where the solinoid conveys to the switch
I only get 10 and drops to 4 when trying to start.
Bad ignition?

Try a different battery - if you do not have one you can run jumper cables to your vehicle to the batter onboard

Strange that you have a drop in volts off the battery - ??

Just had a problem similar on my motorcycle. Turned out to be the battery was opening up when under load. In any case, a new battery fixed it. Cheap chinese batteries act goofy.
