Best large tiller?

Looking to see what you guys think is the best large tiller? Either 75 or 90 hp.

given that I've seen a ton of 115-150 hp tillers and a couple of 225's, wouldn't a 70/90 be considered mid-sized? :lol:

And t be honest, I've not seen a tiller above 60hp in my part of the country, ever. Even those are very uncommon. I will need either a 75 or 90 though, and the more recent the better.

evinrude makes tillers up to 140hp.... and im sure theres others that may go bigger. watch swamp people on history and you will see some BIG tillers....

The e tec? They are an awesome motor. I had a 25 hp one I really did love. I guess some of the "medium" ones (90hp) can have issues when it's below 20 degrees. I never had an issue with the smaller one and have only heard that claim from one source.

Commercial fishermen around here run 90 - 115 tillers occasionally a 150 on large flat bottom bateaus. Mercury will run their big tiller all the way to a 250. there's a video on here someone posted from South Dakota I think, they were running a 225 tiller in it.

Evinrudes are pretty rare beasts locally, but I see them pretty regularly on the coast. the e-tec has a good reputation. Around here it's Mercury or Yamaha and both have strong followings.

I don't remember the HP. , but we had a Troy Built when I was a kid and that thing could tiller some ground :lol:

yes the etec's. I don't know nothing(or never heard) nothing about the new rudes. I have an older(1980) Johnson 25hp and if your referring to your 25 being prior to 1990 or so I agree they are awesome motors, best outboards to 40hp ever made...brand new ones included!

I had a 2012 evinrude E tec 25hp. it ran like a top, started like a million bucks and pushed a fairly large boat ridiculously well for its size. I would love to get a 90hp - I am not sure if they even have it as a tiller offering.

The e tecs are fuel injected motors.

It wouldn't matter to me if the motor had problems below 20 degrees... You won't find me out on the water when it's that cold ...LOL. That's nuts. BRRR!

I've only heard that from one source. I need my motor to perform (and perform well) down to at least 0 degrees, preferably subzero air temps with wind chill.
