I'm working on my lowe 1648 lowe big jon mv right now. I plan to move the console, the driver and passenger seating forward. I just don't know how much I should move it. Right now it's where the factory place it. You set on the rear bench that is in the very back. Between me, passenger, and 40hp motor it's alot of weight back there. So, I want to place the seats like bass boat.in front of rear bench about 8" off of floor or right behind the casting deck in the very front on pedestals. I'll have to buy new cable either way.

The correct answer depends on the intended use and water conditions. Lakes, river, shallow rivers, fast, slow, your fishing setup etc.

You really need to answer those questions to get a decent response.

Lowe 1462 Superior . . . pedestal mounted helm on the backside of the first bench . . . now I can operate from the center bench or from the first bench, one-handed. Since I sleep on my boat I had to have a low-profile helm so as to not interfere with my air bed. My captains chair pops out at night as well. Spend a lot of time driving facing sideways.

I have a grizzly 1448 side console. I wish mine was forward about another 2'. If I didn't need the livewell/storage I would cut it out and put a base in the floor and have a pedestal for my drivers seat.
