I bought a set of pedestals from Springfield scratch and dent, they are the manually adjustable ones from about 23-30 inches, which is just a little too high to run the trolling motor from....has anyone ever tried to cut the post of the pedestal down...I would guess it would be from the portion where the seat swivel attaches to...any suggestions?

I cut mine down - from the seat end, not from the bottom end to be sure the pin would still be safe and sturdy. I just cut off the amount I needed to and then cut up the side of the cut-off piece until I got to the nylon female socket. I split the cutoff the rest of the way with a chisel and once I got the nylon fitting out, drove it back into the shortened pedestal. Pretty easy. Mine was the Swivel-ease with the 3/4" pins.
