Just got the boat for christmas and did some work on it over my break from school...Let me know what ya think. Also I need some advice from someone who knows a little about speakers and stereo's. I have 2 speakers, head unit, and a battery what else would i need to get this thing running?

My dad put OSB in our Lowe jon, and it didn't take one rainy trip before we were busting through the floor.

That's a nice Christmas present, BTW!

Yes it is all sealed with about 4 coats of thompson's water seal..there is also several base boards under the floors for even support.

And Thanks for the positive comments..What do you all use for bass fishing around this time of year because I have tried everything from jigs, spoons, worms, and flukes and have had no luck with bass..

How did you attach your decking to the bench and floor? Sheetmetal screws? I am more than a little nervous about screwing into a new boat!

I actually didnt attach them at all..the stay where they are because of the weight of the deck...However if you do want to drill them I would drill them into the bench..I am not sure about the bottom of the boat though that's why I didnt drill mine in.

The actual deck just rests on the 2x4 supports and the way I cut it, it wedges itself tight along the sides

Thanks for the reply. Thats what I was thinking. I have heard others say the weight of the floor holds it down without any problem too.

I really don't wanna screw into my boat just yet. I think I might get some industrial size/strength adhesive velcro strips and put it on the ribs and on the underside of the floor where they meet. It will help keep it down just in case. And I will be able to pull it up easily for cleaning too.

Yea all of my floors come up and the whole front deck does to but it is all flush when all the way in so it doesnt move unless you pull it out. The only thing thats screwed in the actual boat is the boards on the seats..makes it real easy to keep it clean.

This time of year I think the key is to slow down. I am partial to smaller shakeyhead rigs and jigs during the winter, but with either setup I slow down, trying to feel every little nook and cranny thoroughly and slowly. Bass arent as active this time of year. Its a good time to catch a big fish though. Maybe Russ will chime in, hes down in your neck of the woods and fishes all year long.

Just remember, this is the slowest time of the year, so try not to get frustrated. Work on your skill and presentation, because itll pay off in the spring when things come back to life. BTW, flukes in the southeast are killer in the spring and summer, especially when the bass move up shallow. Never give up!!

Yea Thats what I have heard..I fished a cypruss lake a few days ago and cought a couple nice pike off of green lizzards..and had some bites on a white fluke..I use flukes in the summer all the time and is probably one of my favorite baits other than crank baits and jigs..Thanks for the advice
