Hello everyone! been a long time lurker here and you guys have inspired me to attempt my first build. I have an old (not sure what year) 1432 jon that i will be attempting to fix up (or destroy in the process lol) I have absolutely 0 experience here so i hope i dont bug you guys too much with the questions. My first question is the transom. How would you guys go about fixing it up? I removed all of the rotten plywood today and hopefully you can see on the pics the corrosion on the transom. Also the transom has a small crack on the top left corner that would need repaired. it is REALLY thin material back there. Thanks guys in advance for all your help. :D

Thanks for taking time to respond Darrell.

I currently do not have a motor for the boat. I'm not planning putting anything bigger than a 9.9 on her seeing as i usually only fish small rivers and creeks in South Ga.

Thank you for the links, lot of good info on those.

As far as the small crack in the top of the transom, Do you guys think i could get away just doubling 2 pieces of 3/4 inch plywood and not worrying about fixing the crack?

Thanks again for taking the time to respond

As previously stated; I wouldn't worry one second about that little crack, however drilliing a hole at the end of the crack will keep it from extending down the back of the transum, or you could have someone weld it, or you could rivet a aluminum stip across the entire rear edge just to make it uniform.......or you could just not worry about it!
