Time for the Styrofoam....
As I said, I am using EPS Geofoam. its waterproof and they use a lot in construction for filler etc. There was a local supplier in Des Moines that I bought it. You can have it cut to any dimensions you want.. so I ordered two pices cut to 12"x22"x13ft... $40 a piece was the cost.......here is one of the blocks
Of course, the foam had to be cut since I put the 1x1 supports in the toons. Also, they were about 1/4 inch too wide and the front section had to be cut at the angle. To cut the foam, I built me a homemade hotwire cutter. It was very simple, I took a 24 inch ss fishing leader I had in my tackle box, melted off the protective coating.
I then used some old pvc pipe and stretched the leader wire connecting to the the pvc with bolts. I plugged in my 12 volt battery charger, hooked the positive to one end and the negative to other... and what do you know, I had me a Styrofoam cutter
Now the boys thought this was so cool, so papa and me enlisted my son and his friend to cut the Styrofoam blocks down for us
We cut a 2 inch channel on the bottom as wells as cut about 2 inches off each bottom ledge to allow water to flow back.... here is a pic of the Styrofoam in the toons..
And finally, somebody mentioned drain plugs... thank you... so added some drain plugs in the back
So next step is to bolt on the tops along with the flooring..... try to get to that tomorrow and this week.....
