I have a 14 ft Jon boat and wanna add some storage to it to get stuff out from under my feet I'd like too see some ideas from people I've seen people cut.out the factory seats and remove the foam is that a bad idea I've heard it only effects t the boat once it's filled with water it would sink and not somewhat float like normal is this true if that's the case my boat WA s relatively cheap and wouldnt care because id lose most of.my.gear anyways if it rolls but does it affect how it floats normally if really like to build some storage boxes inside the boat too I don't want to build a deck because I flat head fish and I wanna be inside the boat when a big boy.gets on the line not.on top lol

Check out thehttps://forum.tinboats.net/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=3156, look for boats similar to yours and see their progress to get an idea of what you want to do.

I'm working on a 14ft Jon right now too. I cut out my center bench and removed the foam to create storage. Replacing the foam is a bit of a personal decision, but I tend to err on the side of caution. Adding foam won't change how the boat floats normally, but it'll keep the boat from getting fully submerged if you get swamped/capsized/etc. If you're fishing in a strong river, this can be the difference between having your hull to hang onto until you're rescued or being swept downstream with nothing.

I added 2" of pink foam against the floor and put a low deck in on top of that. I also fish for flatheads and wanted to keep the boat as deep as possible, but I felt losing an extra inch or so of depth was worth the insurance against a disaster.

Good luck with your build!
