I finally matched the 6'6" light Shimano Clarus rod I got from Tackle Warehouse with a Okuma Exipor EF15a. Spooled it up with some 6 pound Trilene Xl and put a 1/16 oz jig head on and with a little flick of the wrist cast it about 40 feet. Gonna be a nice setup for Lake Michigan Perch and Fox Chain Walleye. Might spool the spare spool with 4 pound for the perches.

not going to make it to the home town this year but maybe next and would like to see it in action. I need a new UL as my Fenwick UL that I used for 27 years was broke in the rod tube with 3 other rods on a fight coming back from Chicago in 07.

Damn that must have been one hell of a fight...all kidding aside, I would be very pissed if I broke four rods on a flight

I did catch about half of these with the new rig this morning.

Just kidding.

I was using crappie rigs with fat head minnows on Lake Michigan in 55 FOW. I guess I could go to the fishing report forum and write up a post about it.
