New guy's first build 16ft Crestliner Flat bottom.

Hey guys, I have a 2001 16ft crestliner flat bottom John boat. She was pretty abused before I got it, was used for hydro fish testing at night in shallow water so it has lots of dents and dings plus some big gobs of weld. However the price was right $250. Anyway, so I am thinking about removing the middle seat and was wondering what kind of task this will be? I have seen a few posts about it here and they are helpful. Unfortunatly I have a live well built into the middle seat. I mostly use the boat for duck hunting so the extra room would be nice, but I also use it for fishing. I would need to get the live well hole welded I believe, but I was wondering if anyone has any other ideas. I also just had to fix the Transom, some smart guy cut a notch out of it (me) four years ago when I got it and all I had was a fifteen short shaft. Over the years I have upped the motor because with three guys getting on plain was not happening. Notch wasn't working, and I could afford to fix it so now it's back to normal. I am looking for any ideas, sugestions people have. I will get some pics posted as soon as the rain stops. Would love some feedback. Thanks

:WELCOME: Post some pics and you will get lots of feed back. You may have other options as far as the live well hole goes, I would just have to see what you are working with.

I would suggest drilling out your middle seat rivets and replace the holes with pop rivets coated in marine seal (5200). My suggestion is to replace your middle seat with one of your other seats and keep your live well. That would require drilling out two seats, but in the end you still have your livewell w/o having to replace too many parts! It will definitely keep down on the cost and time (recutting livewell, running wires, drilling holes, etc).

Thanks for the Tips, I have never actually used the live well but that's not a bad idea. as for wiring the boat has none, she is about as plain as you can get. I am planning on running wiring to the front and installing Permanent running lights for those early mornings chasing the ducks. I am planning on taking some pics of the boat tomorrow and getting them up so you guys can check out the beast in all her glory :LOL2: Anyone know the best place to get the Rivits? and a bigger rivet gun?
