:WELCOME: aboard!! you will like it here. Looks to be a good boat to mod. I think your gonna need some new trailer tires though

:WELCOME:

Thanks for joining! Hopefully you turn that ugly duck into a beautiful Swan!

I would first give it a nice wash and scrub down. I would then fill the inside with water and see if any water is leaking out through the bottom and then fix those leaks. Hopefully there are none.

Then take a picture or two of the inside so we can see the layout!

Jim

I love those old Lonestar hulls, I still see plenty of them on the water around here.
here are a few tips:
Fill out the location in your profile so we all know where you are, and...
read these to get the juices flowing, MODS!

Thanks jim yea i hope i can! never done anything like this before Im hoping my years as a carpenter pays off with this project. Rat i just moved to Oklahoma about 6 months ago from Missouri im maken a trip to Mo this week to pick the ol'boat up and among other things to do back in Mo.

First off welcome aboard!

Second, it looks like your trailer is a bit too short for the boat. (that is if your planning on putting the motor on it to tow it to the lake) You could try lengthing the bunks or moving the bow stop forward. (hard to tell how much more forward you could move it from the pics posted).

The next thing is posted above, fill it with water and see if it leaks. Fix those. Then you can start moding any way you would like and clean her up a bit if that is what you want.

As for the motor it looks like a beauty and I bet with a bit of TLC she will run again just fine.

Welcome aboard. I'm new to TB myself. Looks like you have a great boat to start off with. The guys are right, start off by cleaning it up and checking for leaks. As far as what comes next, you will find a lot of great ideas from all the mods posted on here. I've seen some pretty awesome boats!

Welcome to another okie. Thats a nice boat you got there. Cant wait to see your progress.

the red line is the seam that seems to leak on both sides of the boat it doesnt go all the way up to the bow. what should i use to fix it?

I just purchased a similar boat, only mine is 12'. I'm interested to hear how well things go as you fix those leaks. I have the same problem with mine. Note - I believe there is a rubber seal sandwiched between the metal along the rivet lines.

I had a 1966 Lonestar 14'er for years, damn good boats. on mine the seam that you indicate has leaks had a rubber seal just like who10 says. I bucked my rivets the rolled a good coating epoxy on it and painted it up. It never leaked again in the 5 years or so i had that boat.

I used Coat-It for epoxy as its easy to get locally here, lots of guys on this site use Steelflex and it too seems to be a good product.

there is an entire huge thread on here devoted to steelflex, but the techniques and tips will apply to any epoxy coating.

great boat with tons of potential to mod. Mine rode nice and high in the water even with a front deck, console and 40 hp motor

Hay did you notice something took a bite right out of the bow deck on your boat? Have bears moved back into Mo.? We had our first recorded bear attack on a hiker in Ky. this last weekend. It seems the guy saw the bear following him and his family and stopped to take pictures. Welcome aboard. This is a great all-around site with down to earth people.
