I bought an older tin boat with a Johnson outboard that was converted to a jet propulsion. Is there any tips or tricks to running the motor out of the water? I don't recall any hose fittings to connect to so I was thinking of filling a big plastic tote and running in that. I can take pictures and get model numbers when I'm home later if that's needed.

Welcome to TinBoats!

I tried the tub method. It took a large oval tub and then you have to raise it off the ground significantly. With the jet there is no true neutral, water is always flowing around. It is an idle only operation or everything gets soaked, if yyou throttle up. So it was a one time thing.

Don't know if applys to your model, but on the yamaha, you remove the bolt that is in the middle of the grease fitting "loop", and screw in a hose adapter. You can run at idle and lightly rev it. Exhaust is louder. You might try calling outboardjets with your model number and see if they know what fitting to get.
