Pedestal Mount?

Hey guys/gals I am just to add a second seat to my boat and bought a swivel pedestal Mount for it.
The question is can the pedestal be shortened up if the center section is too tall?
By that I mean can the swivel and seat lock on the top be easily removed?

I would prefer not to cut out the center of the tubing and put it in a sleeve if I can.

Is it possible to cut one end of the tube down as much as needed to get it to your height. I don't know how it was engineered but I was thinking if you could remove the tube and cut the bottom down that would work.
Nice seat by the way.
