Hey guys, new here and first post. I wanted to find out a little about the boat I just purchased. I was looking for something that my kids could take crabbing on the creeks here on Marylands Eastern Shore. I wanted something light that I could carry in my truck bed and launch from the beach (no ramp). I thought this Gamefisher with Johnson would do the trick. I was able to get the Gamefisher for $200 and the Johnson for $150 although I had to pull the lower unit and replace the impeller (easy job). Anyway, thought I would say hello and share a pic or two.

I had a Gamefisher just like that with an old 3.9 merc on it. It's not going to go anywhere real fast but it will beat the heck of of using a paddle. Welcome to the forum.

That will crab just fine. You using traps? hoop nets or trotline. I usually do some crabbing around kent island or the wye river. Havent went yet this year because they havent made it up far enough in any numbers to make it worth while.

Yep, I use 20 topless traps and drop a few ring traps in shallow water, the kids call them BONUS traps. I was in the mouth of the Wye last weekend and crabbed for a few hours with ZERO crabs. They just aren't there yet. How many of you guys bottom paint your boats? The Gamefisher has old bottom paint on her and I'm thinking about painting it again just to freshen her up. I'll probably splash the boat sometime this week and use it crab on Thursday. I don't have to go the crazy boat ramp anymore, especially on the 4th of July.
