what is the minimum horsepower requirements for a starcraft 16 super sport.

yea Ive got a paddle.... according to what I can gather it around a 900 lb boat and Ive got a 25horse for free....like your avitar by the way!

Well in that case, I'd go with the 25. My bro in law has a 25 HP on his 15' smokercraft, it will plane with one person, but not two.

A 25HP on a 900 pound boat will be significantly under-powered. You will be very very disappointed with the performance.

Yes, it will push the boat along but I doubt you'll get on plane and top speed will be about 10mph or less.

40 would be about as low as you can go and still get decent performance. 50 would be better and 60 or even 75 would be great.

i have a 1971 ss whith a 2001 merc 4 stroke 25 hp big foot two 27 series batterys 6 gallon tank .with just me@205 lbs i get 23 mph gps out of it .I dont think my boat is close to 900 lbs where are you getting that figure

I've got a 1970 16ft SS. I don't think it's anywhere near the 900lbs MrSimon mentions. I don't know the minimum HP listing, but I know the data plate lists an 85hp max. I have a 90 on mine. :shock: :shock:

Well.... the 25 fell through And I ended up with a 65 horse 1968 evinrude :roll: --Long story. Now, Ive got to put the carb back togeather. Boy am I regretting this. But the motor was all but free and suposedly the guy who had it was in the process of doing the rebuild and bought a new / bigger motor so he got rid of this one. Claims it ran before he started on he carb...I am really trying to have faith in my fellow man here.... [-o< anyways, heres the boat. I want to turn it into a little more fisher friendly. All sudgestions / tips are welcome.
