Figured i'd finally get my pics and processes going, was going to cut out the rear deck framing but after removing the foam I realized the great potential for new dry storage and such, there is a lot of room in there. Going to remove the rear livewell and move the seats up about 8 inches to the forward half of the rear deck. Side console is coming out and a slim 20" center console going in with a seat attached on the front and a lot more dry storage inside of it. Ugly green coming out and rhino liner going in. The 48 evinrude coming off (jacked up lower unit by somehow knocking the forward gear out) , puttin a brand new 1973 70 HP chrysler on. I think I'm gettin the pics on here right, if not I'd appreciate the heads up.

just addin a few pics of er completely stripped of carpet, non-structural pieces and wiring etc. Begun striping the outside of paint today. Decided the upper half will be semi-polished alum w/o the paint and without doubt the waterline down will be this almighty steelflex i've read so much about here. I had been planning on rhino liner on the interior but i'm researching the posibility of the garage floor coating for the wood (after sealing) and the aluminum flooring. I'm thinking the light gray will be much cooler in the summer as well easy cleaning and still provide a little bit of traction.

Nice boat!!!! Great find. Let me know how the stripping goes. I used Zip Strip Marine. It works great and its much cheaper than Aircraft strip. Let me know about this steelflex. Is it paint? If so does it come in different colors? I hear it will seal the bottom of the boat? Where can you buy it? The project looks like its coming along great. Keep posting the pictures. I'm right behind you on doing my boat.

Looks like a great project boat man. That center console looks great.

seasprite check out the steelflex thread at the top of the jon boat conversions page for all the info you need on it.

I found the zip strip yesterday! It is fantastic stuff but won't eat the carpet glue out for me. Still tryin to find the lazy man avenue for that! Also there are some more recent pics of the console in the console link a week or so ago, I'll add a couple more pics with it framed and the new radio spot formed into it.

Looks good but could you for the sake of our sanity go back and edit the first post and hit the 'enter' key between each pic so they tile vertically vs. horizontally?

Thanks,
Jamie
