I remember that post now. At that time, I did wind up getting a 50ah LiFePo battery and it didn't last me more than 2 hours. It was pretty windy that day, but I was on a very small lake (115 acres) and I didn't get to fish more than half of it. That said, I did have my old electric motor that came with the boat and it was pretty old and beat up, so it may have drawn more than it should have. Late last year I bought a new MK Traxxis 55 trolling motor, but I have yet to try it out. Im expecting I will get much more run time out of this motor as it is brand new.

Another question for the brain trust...

Will a NOCO Genius 10a charger work for the 140ah battery without damaging it? I realize it will take longer to charge it v a 20a charger. If I need to buy a new charger just for this battery, that will be a deal breaker.

Edit: I just realized I have a 15a LiFePo charger that I purchased with my 50ah battery. Would that one work?

The 10a charger on a 140ah battery?

I have a 10A NOCO on my 100ah TimeUsb. While I have seen their 20A charger recommendations, doubt that it causes issues to charge slower. An email to TimeUSB may calm your fears.

The NOCO I had, supported having a mode for Li/LiFePO4, so stayed with it. Just like the LA, they will be fully charged overnight.

JMHO: The TimeUSB chargers do not look like something that was marine ready. They had what looked like an opening for a cooling fan. It is not something that I would dedicatly mount in the boat. Most marine chargers are fully encapsolated, these days. As a plug-in charger, that is removed and stored inside, probably OK.

Yep, the NOCO I have will do LiFePo also. I will email Timeusb and report back. (y)

By all means check any charger you wish to use to be sure it will charge a LifePO4 battery !! Not all of them will....my NOCO 3 bank charger is not compatible with any type of lithium battery !! When the wrong charger is hooked up.....the batteries can burn white hot in seconds. I speak from experience....not my own mistake but others not paying attention. Your charger will identify what batteries it can charge.
