One bad back to another>{4 herniated discs in lower lumbar sac area w/ muscular strain & acute tendinitis} / A suggestion **rest, heating pad & if you have & or can get a "Ten's Unit" Electric impulse nerve modulator**. There are time's I'll wear mine 24 -48 hrs.' before removing. However, I lived on the floor for two weeks, literally, slept ate, bathed & screamed my bloody head off climbing onto the king's throne. It affected my Legg's so bad; One Day I was carried by two co-workers into my chiro's office because I couldn't walk. Be careful with that you don't want to wind up in a wheelchair. or have your spine put into a cage for support, or have a bunch of crap holding it together.
Reason why both my v-hull which I wouldn't have another way is on a trailer and my plastic pelican flat bottom Jon is also on a trailer. Heck 30 yrs. ago I could pick it up and slide it into back of my truck. now ?? lol! I sit and do stretches for an hour before I choose to go outside! Don't know how old all you fella's are but take some advice > a bit of stretching before heading out will help from getting hurt.!!! & THIS IS NO JOKE!

LDUBS > For your sake I hope it's just tired muscles.

Thanks. I "liked" your post but really didn't like what you are going through. It has improved a lot after a week of doing nothing physical. I'll find out more tomorrow but suspect my issue will be handled with PT. I can control it with large doses of Advil but my Doc says I can't keep doing that for very long.

Got back from a trip last week that was 9 time zones away. Still feeling the jet lag. Normally that is a good thing because I'm wide awake at 4 am and can head for the lake. This time I'm battling some long term back pain that got a lot worse and made it difficult to move around. Been sidelined all week. Have an appt with the Doc on Monday to go over X-rays. I feel better now with the rest and expect I'll be wasting the Doc's time.

Anyway, I have had way too much time on my hands -- you guys are paying the price! haha.
Sorry to hear that you are hurting. The long international flight will mess a guy up. Anyway, carry on. I thought maybe you were rain out or something.

Thanks. Doc thinks it is the facet joint in the spine, which I didn't even know existed until today. Thinks cortisone injection will be the ticket but wants to pinpoint things with an MRI first.

Not too painful now, so I see a trip to the lake in my future. :)

I get a steroid shot every three months in my lower back. Been receiving the shots for the last five years. It does make a difference.

I have plenty of aches and pains as well due to advanced degenerative arthritis. The cortisone shots only give me a day or two of relief and they hurt like 7734 so I tend to avoid them. It’s not worth it for me but it may bring you some relief.

So far my best medicine is to stay as active as possible.

I get what I call my Alice in Wonderland drugs prior to getting the shot in the back. The second they shoot me up with the cocktail I am in my happy place. Better than the cocaine from my younger years. Degenerative arthritis is why I have a card so we can walk through a metal detector and pass. Two hip replacements and next will be my Knee. I know your pain.

When the Doc said something about a cortisone injection, I might have mentioned no way I'm going to lay still for a needle in the spine. He says I will be heavily sedated. If it even happens. Still waiting for the next test.

Your wide awake but under the sedation you just don't care. It does not last long about 15 minutes your able to walk.

@sonny1, sounds like you have bene there done that for back issues. I take it you feel the cortisone injections are worth it?

I've refused the injections for my shoulder because I hate the thought of needles and was able to learn to live with it. Not sure I can do that with the back.

This jocularity thread has taken a strange turn! haha.

Not cortisone I get steroids. Yes have a big fear of needles. Way back in the marines I would pass out when it was shot time. Navy Corpsman thought it was hilarious. Even today if I see the needle It is lights out. Freaked a nurse out at the Indian clinic when she was drawing blood. Lucky for me I was sitting down.

I've had a couple of ESIs (Epidural Steroid Injection) for my back. I've had worse teeth cleanings than that and feel much better immediately after. Just don't look at the needle. haha

One of those deals where you have to have a shot before getting the shot. I was told the shot was the size of a #2 pencil when I had mine over 15 years ago.

I had it done. 8 injections into the facet joints in two different sessions. Don't know about #2 pencils. They gave me the happy juice. I didn't even know it happened. Actually didn't even know I had dozed off. The bad part is the "improvement" wasn't spectacular and only lasted a short while.
