If you don't have ptt, then some type of support is needed that is fixed and place and can't slip or fall out. On my small manual tilt motors I usually built a wood wedge to keep them tilted up with some type of strap or even a bungee cord to keep the device in position. Follow a boat over a rough set of RR tracks and watch the motor flop up and down....that is what you need to stop from happening !!

Ive never used a transom saver.
All the motors Ive had(have), can be towed straight up and down.
I figure my bunks support the transom and my boat is strapped to the trailer, so no bouncing.
The only thing I do is bungy the motor to the side so it doesnt go back in forth.
For me a proper sized trailer takes to weight....abuse

I think that is the best option if you have the clearance. My skeg will clear the ground but not enough for comfort, so I tilt & block it up.

Some people work on electric circuits live. Some people work under their car with just a jack holding it up.

Some people don't use a transom saver.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

Boat = $$$$$$$$
Transom Saver = $

I think you mean use a transom saver when the motor can't be left in the down position. When the manufacturers say the preferred method is to tow with the motor in the normal down position, then if you can you definitely should.
