I have a 1967 14' wide(5 1/2 ft across the top) flat bottom. Stripping the outside of the boat down to bare metal and wondering what to use to protect the outside. The bottom and the lower side have some pitting, nothing deep. Is steelflex the best thing to put on it? It doesnt leak at all but would like to keep it that way.

Also worried about scraping some rocks and under water trees. The river here can get shallow quick. Thought the steel flex or something like it should also help protect it.

No down-side that I can tell unless you ever want to remove it, but it won't do anything for protection if you run over rock. It's meant for running over matted vegetation.
